Care & Cleaning

Care & Cleaning

Your Mintuchi piece is handmade to last a lifetime. With a little care, it will continue to shine, age beautifully, and tell its story for years to come. Here is everything you need to know.

Sterling Silver Care

Cleaning

Gently polish your silver jewelry with a soft silver polishing cloth to restore its shine. For a deeper clean, use a drop of mild liquid soap in warm water, gently rub with a soft cloth or soft-bristle brush, then rinse and pat completely dry. Never leave silver damp.

Storage

Store your piece in an anti-tarnish pouch or a closed jewelry box, away from direct sunlight, humidity, and open air. Keeping each piece separate also prevents scratching.

What to Avoid

  • Remove jewelry before swimming, bathing, or showering
  • Apply perfume, hairspray, and lotions before putting on your jewelry — not after
  • Avoid contact with household chemicals, bleach, and chlorine
  • Remove before exercising or sleeping

About Tarnish

Sterling silver naturally develops a gentle patina over time — this is a sign of authentic silver, not damage. A soft silver polishing cloth will restore its original brightness whenever you wish. Some people love the aged look; it is entirely your choice.

Gemstone Care

Each gemstone has its own character and care needs. Here is a guide to the stones used in Mintuchi jewelry:

Tourmaline (Green & Purple)

Tourmaline is a durable stone but sensitive to sudden temperature changes and harsh chemicals. Clean gently with a soft damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners, steam cleaners, and prolonged heat exposure.

London Blue Topaz

Clean with a soft damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners, steam cleaners, and sudden temperature changes, which can damage or loosen the stone.

Amethyst

Amethyst can fade with prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. Clean gently with a soft damp cloth. Avoid ultrasonic and steam cleaners and harsh chemicals.

Ruby

Ruby is a durable stone. Clean with a soft damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid harsh chemicals and prolonged heat exposure.

Rhodolite Garnet

Clean with a soft damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners, steam cleaners, and sudden temperature changes.

Moissanite

Moissanite is one of the hardest gemstones available and very durable. Clean with mild soap, warm water, and a soft brush. A soft polishing cloth works perfectly for everyday upkeep.

Lab Grown Emerald

Emeralds are beautiful but can be sensitive to heat and vibration. Always clean gently with a soft damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid ultrasonic and steam cleaners — a soft cloth is the safest option.

Masonite & Natural Stones

Wipe gently with a soft dry or barely damp cloth only. Avoid soaking or using chemical cleaners to preserve the natural finish of the stone.

General Tips

  • Put jewelry on last — after perfume, makeup, and hairspray have dried
  • Take it off first — before washing hands, cleaning, or any water activity
  • Polish regularly — a quick buff with a silver cloth keeps your piece looking its best
  • Store separately — keep pieces apart to avoid scratching
